Southwest Airlines Offers $99 Fares From Phoenix

Southwest Airlines announced today it has good news for Phoenix travelers. Until Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, Customers may purchase travel in or out of Phoenix for just $99 or less each way, based on roundtrip purchase. Travel is valid through April 2, 1999.

This special fare must be purchased at least seven days before departure, and within one day of making the reservation. Seats are limited and won't be available during very busy travel times and holiday periods. A single night's stay is required, but the Customer may pick which night works best for him/her. This fare is nonrefundable. The value of any unused portion, however, may be applied toward future travel on Southwest Airlines.

"This fare offer has a very generous travel window that is not to be missed," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing. "Baseball's spring season is very popular in Phoenix, as are all of the golf courses. Why not go and experience all of the fun for yourself?"

Nonstop destinations from Phoenix include: Albuquerque, Austin, Burbank, El Paso, Houston Hobby, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Little Rock, Los Angeles, Louisville, Nashville, New Orleans, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Ontario, Reno, Sacramento, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Tulsa. A new nonstop between Phoenix and Seattle starts on Jan. 14, 1999.

Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares do not include airport taxes of $3 to $12 roundtrip. Fares also do not include a $2 Federal excise tax that will be imposed on each flight segment of your itinerary. A flight segment is defined as a takeoff and landing.

For the third year in a row, FORTUNE magazine has recognized Southwest Airlines in its annual survey of corporate reputations. This year, FORTUNE listed Southwest Airlines among America's Top Ten most admired corporations. In 1998, as in 1997 and 1996, Southwest also was named the most admired airline.
