Southwest Airlines Adds Nonstop Flights from Albuquerque to Oakland

Southwest Airlines today announced it will inaugurate daily service from Albuquerque to Oakland beginning Oct. 25 with two daily nonstop departures.

"The new nonstops will fill the needs of our Customers who require an easier connection when flying further north," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing.

A low fare of $125 each way, based on roundtrip travel, is available with seven-day advance purchase for travel between Albuquerque and Oakland. Seats are limited and an overnight stayover is required. Tickets must be purchased within one day of making reservations and are nonrefundable but may be applied, if unused, toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest.

As of Oct. 25, Southwest Airlines will operate 51 daily nonstop departures from Albuquerque and 109 from Oakland.

Currently, from Albuquerque, Southwest flies nonstop to Amarillo, Dallas, Houston, El Paso, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Orlando, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Tampa.

Southwest flies nonstop from Oakland to Burbank, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Ontario, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Reno/Tahoe, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, and Tucson.

Southwest Airlines, named "The Best Company to Work For in America" by FORTUNE magazine in its January 1998 issue, employs more than 25,000 workers throughout its system. Specifically, Southwest employs more than 750 in Albuquerque and more than 1,082 in Oakland.
