This Fourth of July, Think Red, Yellow, and Orange!

Southwest Airlines Offers Fourth of July Fares Starting at $29

This Fourth of July, the traditional red, white, and blue will compete with the red, yellow, and orange of Southwest Airlines as the country's Symbol of Freedom. Southwest today announced it will offer fares as low as $29 one-way for travel on July 4, 1998.

"What better way to showcase Southwest Airlines as the country's Symbol of Freedom than to celebrate the Fourth of July with the kind of fares that have endeared us to so many of our Customers," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing. "Southwest Airlines' everyday low fares have truly revolutionized the way Americans travel. It's about giving people the independence to travel where they need to go at a price they can afford."

For example; Customers can travel between Los Angeles and Oakland for just $29 one-way. Other $29 one-way routes include Dallas Love and Houston Hobby, St. Louis and Chicago Midway, Baltimore Washington and Manchester, or Baltimore Washington and Cleveland. How about $39 one-way between San Diego and Reno Tahoe? Or, $49 one-way between San Jose and Seattle. Customers also can go longer distances at a great savings. It's just $99 one-way between Chicago Midway and Los Angeles, or between Houston Hobby and Los Angeles.

These special, one-way fares are for travel on Saturday, July 4, 1998 only, but are combinable with any other Southwest Airlines fare. (For example: one can use the special July 4 fare on the outbound and use a seven-day advance purchase fare at a later return date.)

Fares must be purchased by Friday, July 3, 1998, and within one day of making a reservation. Seats are limited and will not be available on some flights that operate during peak travel times. Tickets are nonrefundable, but may be applied, if unused, toward future travel on Southwest Airlines. Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares do not include airport taxes of up to $6 each way.

Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV), the fifth largest domestic carrier in terms of Customers boarded, currently serves 52 cities in 26 states. Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 2,300 flights a day with a fleet of 269 Boeing 737s with an average age of 8.2 years--one of the youngest pure jet fleets in the domestic airline industry.
