Southwest Airlines Names New Ground Operations Regional Director for Dallas Region

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) recently named Art Allison as its new ground operations regional director for: Amarillo, Dallas, Kansas City, Little Rock, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. In his new position, Allison will work closely with the airport station managers to oversee daily operations including staffing, facility improvements, union matters, and budget planning.

"I am ready to take this next step in my career," said Allison. "I plan on working hard to meet head on the challenges my new job will present."

Like many other Southwest Employees, Allison has successfully climbed the professional ladder at Southwest Airlines. Allison joined the Southwest family in 1979 as an Austin ramp agent. He quickly worked his way to ramp supervisor. Since that time, he has worked in San Diego and Houston as assistant station manager, and in Birmingham and San Diego as station manager. His most recent position was station manager at Dallas Love Field.

Allison is a graduate of Southwest's Manager in Training program, a course designed to help prepare individuals for Southwest leadership roles.

"Art's dedication, knowledge, and Southwest Spirit make him a great asset to the ground operations' management team," said Mike Hafner, Southwest's senior director of ground operations.

Southwest Airlines, now the nation's fourth largest carrier in terms of Customer boardings, serves 58 airports in 57 cities in 29 states. The airline currently has more than 30,000 Employees and operates more than 2,700 flights a day.
