Southwest Airlines Names New Austin Leadership

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) recently named Mike Dixon as the new station manager for the Company's operations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. In his new position, Dixon will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all flight activities in Austin.

Like many other Southwest Employees, Dixon has successfully climbed the professional ladder at Southwest Airlines. Dixon joined the Southwest family in 1983 as a ramp agent in Austin. During his tenure at Southwest Airlines, Dixon gained experience in many facets of the airline industry working at several airports. The rungs on Dixon's professional ladder include ramp supervisor in Dallas, Houston, and St. Louis, manager of ramp and operations in Las Vegas and most recently station manager in Amarillo.

Southwest Airlines utilized Dixon's expertise and knowledge when beginning service from several airports including Salt Lake City International, Seattle International, and Spokane International.

"We feel Mike is a perfect fit for the Austin team," said Art Allison, Southwest's regional director of ground operations. "Austin-Bergstrom is fortunate to acquire such a great addition to its management staff."

Southwest Airlines currently operates 50 daily nonstop departures from Austin-Bergstrom to Baltimore/Washington, Dallas, El Paso, Houston Hobby, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Orlando, Nashville, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Diego, and Tampa Bay.
