Southwest Airlines Names Leadership For Operations and Marketing in Buffalo

Southwest Airlines recently announced its leadership for the Company's operations and marketing in Buffalo. Southwest opens its ticket counter at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on October 2.

Joe Camp was named the station manager for the airline's operations at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. As station manager, Camp will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all flight activities in Buffalo. "I look forward to the challenges that accompany the opening of a new station," Camp said. "I welcome the opportunity to introduce Buffalo to Southwest's outstanding Customer Service."

Camp, an Englewood, Colo. native, joined the Southwest family in 1982 as a ramp agent in Midland/Odessa, Texas. Since then, he has served as an operations agent, an operations supervisor, and the manager of ramp and operations in Albuquerque. Most recently, he served as the station manager in Oklahoma City.

In Oklahoma City, Camp was active in the training coordinator role and enjoys being involved with local community activities including the Ronald McDonald House. Adding to his skills, Camp graduated from Southwest's leadership training program in 1995. Camp brings more than 18 years of Southwest Airlines experience to the leadership team in Buffalo.

"We look forward to working with Joe in his new position and know that with his job knowledge, leadership skills, and positive attitude he will provide great leadership in our newest city, Buffalo," said Chris Wahlenmaier, Southwest's senior director of ground operations.

Joining Camp in Buffalo is Jeff Haag, who will serve as manager for the Company's marketing efforts in the Buffalo area. His responsibilities will include special promotions, media relations, corporate sales, and community relations.

Haag began his career with Southwest Airlines in 1996 as a ramp agent in Portland. In 1997, he was transferred to Tampa to continue his work as a ramp agent. Haag was then promoted to ramp supervisor in 1998 and moved to Las Vegas. In 1999, he was transferred to Islip (Long Island). Haag later moved over to the Customer Service area as a supervisor at Islip in 1999. Currently, he serves as the Albany area marketing manager, a position that has been expanded to include his responsibilities in Buffalo. He will continue to work out of Albany.

"I look forward to representing Southwest Airlines in Buffalo and promoting our online products to both leisure and corporate travelers," said Haag. "I hope to show our Customers how Southwest Airlines will stimulate economic growth in western New York," Haag said.

Beginning October 8, Southwest will operate seven daily nonstop flights from Buffalo to Baltimore/Washington, one daily to Las Vegas, one daily to Orlando, and one daily to Phoenix.
