Southwest Airlines' Savings Opportunities Don't Knock; They E-mail!

Southwest Airlines now offers its Customers the opportunity to sign up to receive e-mail notifications of sales and special promotions available on the carrier's World Wide Web site, www.southwest.com.

"Now Southwest's low fares are delivered directly to our Customers' in-boxes," says Kevin Krone, Southwest's director of marketing automation. "This is one e-mail everyone will want to read."

This week's special Internet fares start at just $24 each way based on roundtrip purchase for flights from Baltimore/Washington to Providence. It's just $34 each way from Dallas to San Antonio. Flights from Seattle to San Jose are just $42 each way, and from Orlando to Phoenix it's just $99 each way. These fares, which are available with roundtrip purchase on selected routes, represent a great savings for Internet shoppers, who will be alerted to specials like these via e-mail from Southwest.

Customers will be able to visit the airline's web site and choose a mail icon on the home page. They may then subscribe to the e-mail service and receive a confirmation e-mail at the address they provided. To complete the subscription, Customers must reply to this e-mail. The confirmation reply is designed for the Customer's protection, to prevent anyone else from signing them up for Southwest Airlines' mailing list without their knowledge or consent. All of the details about this exciting new service may be found at www.southwest.com\email.

Customers may simply go to www.southwest.com/hotfares to receive more information on special fares. Purchases of Ticketless Travel are made with a credit card. The Customer simply uses the confirmation number given at the end of the transaction, instead of a paper ticket, to travel. The airline began offering weekly Internet sales Feb. 24, announcing special Internet fares on select city pairs from every Southwest city each Tuesday.

Visitors who wish to purchase discounted Internet fares can access the Southwest Airlines Home Gate, www.southwest.com, using any Internet access provider and browser such as Netscape 1.22, Microsoft 3.0, or greater. These browsers provide the necessary security for Internet purchases.

Southwest Airlines, the first major U.S. airline to have its own home page on the Internet, was recognized as having the best airline Web home page, according to Air Transport World. For the latest news about the airline, schedules, and fare information visit the Southwest Airlines Home Gate. Through its continuing innovations, Southwest Airlines is making travel easier than ever.

*Fares listed are each-way and require roundtrip purchase with at least a one-night stayover. Travel may originate in either direction. Seats are limited and won't be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods. Fares are nonrefundable, but may be applied, if unused, toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Any change in reservation will result in an increase in fare. Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges of up to $12 roundtrip.
