Southwest Partners to Deliver Backpacks to El Paso Teen Patients

Update

Southwest Airlines recently partnered with the Carson Leslie Foundation to provide complimentary cargo transportation to deliver 50 backpacks to youth cancer patients receiving long-term care at El Paso, Texas, hospitals.

The Foundation delivered the backpacks, which were created by Under Armour and sponsored by the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, to Southwest's Dallas Love Field cargo facility and Southwest carried them to our cargo facility at El Paso International Airport.

The backpacks were then distributed to patients at El Paso Providence Children's Hospital and El Paso Children's Hospital.

"We are so grateful to Southwest for its generosity and kindness to our Foundation, but especially grateful you helped us bring smiles to children battling severe illnesses," Carson Leslie Foundation co-founder and Chief Mission Officer Annette Leslie said.

Southwest's cargo operation began in 1973 with shipments of small packages via passenger request over the ticket counter. In May 1990, the Cargo Management Group began operations as an independent department of Southwest Airlines.

Dallas Love Field, the home of Southwest Airlines, is one of the original points on the legendary Texas Triangle. Southwest launched service at ELP in 1977 and remains staunchly dedicated to intrastate travel in the Lone Star State, as well as supporting the communities we serve across Texas.
