Southwest Airlines Reports March Traffic
Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that the Company flew 2,662.0 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in March 1998, a 10.9 percent increase over the 2,399.4 million flown in March 1997. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 7.4 percent to 3,913.9 million from the March 1997 level of 3,644.7 million. The load factor for the month was 68.0 percent, up 2.2 points from 1997.
For first quarter 1998, Southwest flew 6,898.8 million RPMs, compared with the 6,533.0 million recorded for the same period of 1997, an increase of 5.6 percent. Available seat miles increased 7.2 percent to 11,270.2 million from the 1997 level of 10,517.6 million. The first quarter load factor was 61.2 percent, compared to 62.1 percent for the same period last year.
