TITLE: Vice President, Communications and Strategic Outreach
JOB DESCRIPTION: Guiding the efforts of media relations, employee communications, emergency response, strategic public relations, emerging and multimedia, charitable giving and community relations, graphic and creative services, corporate community affairs, and legislative communications and grassroots.
EXPERIENCE: Previously was Vice President Public Relations and Community Affairs. Before Southwest Airlines, Linda was a reporter for the Dallas Times Herald newspaper and has an extensive newspaper and magazine reporting background.
LENGTH OF SERVICE AT SOUTHWEST: 16+ Years
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Texas Tech University.
FAMILY: Husband, Michael, and two children, Matthew and Allison
FIRST PAYING JOB: A roller-skating carhop at Sonic Drive-In
PROUDEST MOMENT: Graduating from college against all odds!
BEST ADVICE EVER RECEIVED: My mother told me I could be anything I wanted to be if I believed in myself, never gave up, and gave 110 percent to everything.
BEST ADVICE EVER GIVEN: Always do the right thing, even if it’s the unpopular decision, so you can go to bed each night with a pure heart.
