Southwest Airlines Pilots to Inspire Children to Dream Big at Discovery World

Southwest Airlines Celebrates Partnership and Launches Flyaway Sweepstakes

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) is kicking off its 2014 Adopt-A-Pilot® (AAP) program by celebrating aviation careers in a whole new way at Discovery World in Milwaukee. Through a relationship with Discovery World, Southwest AAP Pilots will address dozens of Milwaukee Public Schools students on Thursday, Feb.13th about careers in aviation and the math and science that go into every flight. The students also will take part in Discovery World aviation curriculum and have an opportunity to experience the Discovery World flight simulator. Through the unique AAP volunteer program, Southwest Airlines and AirTran Pilots across the country donate their time from February through May to educate students via fun aviation-themed activities relating to their core subjects. Their goal is to inspire fifth graders to stay in school, set goals, and dream big for their futures.

To showcase its commitment to the Milwaukee community, Southwest Airlines is giving one family a chance to discover Atlanta. Southwest Airlines, Discovery World, and the Georgia Aquarium will sponsor a fun-filled, educational Atlanta experience for four people. The grand prize includes four roundtrip tickets from Milwaukee to Atlanta, two-night hotel stay, tickets to a baseball game, and tours of popular attractions, including the aquarium. Entrants can register in person at Discovery World starting Feb. 13, 2014 or at southwest.com/atlantaexperience. The contest will continue through March 16, and Discovery World will feature special events and connections to both Southwest Airlines and the Georgia Aquarium throughout the month-long promotion.

Southwest Airlines has been a proud member of the Milwaukee community since 2009. The airline has worked with dozens of organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Urban Underground, and many others. Southwest Airlines started with just 12 flights to six cities and has grown to serve 20 cities with more than 40 daily nonstop departures.
