Our Communities
Southwest Airlines has always been devoted to each and every community that we serve. Our Employees, Customers, and neighbors make the Southwest Family the LUVing place that it is, and we are proud to offer our cities more than just friendly and affordable air service. We offer our hearts! Thousands of times each year, Southwest Airlines and its Employees reach out to individuals, families, and entire communities providing help where it is needed. Most donations are invisible–except to the people they affect. For Southwest, that is recognition enough. Southwest's Charitable Giving and Community Relations teams make corporate donations and maximize volunteerism to the benefit of nonprofit organizations in the communities served by Southwest. These efforts are in addition to those of the Community Affairs team, which builds mutually beneficial relationships with special interest organizations in order to reach various population segments.

Charitable Giving: How to Request Donations
Southwest Airlines is proud to support many charitable organizations within the communities we serve. Non-profit organizations in need of raising funds or to help offset travel expenses can now submit donation requests online. Information is also available about our Medical Transportation Grant Program.
Share the Spirit defines how Southwest Employees impact a community by giving back through volunteerism, either with individual and personal efforts or serving together as teams. Southwest Employees are encouraged to embrace local charitable/non-profit causes and rally their work groups around those local efforts to make a difference. Sharing the Spirit takes many forms, whether it is the Maintenance Department Leaders traveling to New Orleans to rebuild a neighborhood ravaged by Hurricane Katrina; or the Executive Assistants decorating for the Holidays at Shared Housing of Dallas; or a group of Southwest Employees raising money for various organizations by participating in annuals walks. Southwest Employees are continually looking for new and exciting ways to Share the Spirit. Our corporate volunteerism efforts include supporting our troops, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald Houses, and supporting America’s Second Harvest Food Banks.

The Corporate Community Affairs Department's goal is to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships in Southwest Airlines’ diverse communities by leading with integrity and a servant’s heart. It also has expanded its scope to seek strategic partnerships and relationships with key influencers in various Customer segments, such as Women, Seniors, and Gay/Lesbian. This team has focused on relationships in the areas of Education, Business, and Politics. The vision is to ensure that Southwest Airlines is a trusted and valued partner which engages in initiatives to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.
